This webpage has been created to demonstrate skills in creating quality subtitles for feature movies. As described above these subtitles are related to the foreign language parts in a movie, which, if not properly worked out, will make it difficult to put a movie in context.
SURFFD initially received a request to develop 2 sets of subtitles for the movie Largo Winch 2 - The Burma Conspiracy, which seemed ideal for 2 main reasons: the lack of properly worked out subtitles for that specific movie and the variety of languages featuring in the movie, a very relevant challenge to overcome to demonstrate skills.

SURFFD initially received a request to develop 2 sets of subtitles for the movie Largo Winch 2 - The Burma Conspiracy, which seemed ideal for 2 main reasons: the lack of properly worked out subtitles for that specific movie and the variety of languages featuring in the movie, a very relevant challenge to overcome to demonstrate skills.
At SURFFD we speak 3 languages fluently and we aim to develop subtitles for at least the French and English-speaking audiences. In regard to the above mentioned movie, one set of subtitles was developed for the French-speaking audience and another for the English-speaking one. Each set of subtitles required one solid week of work, to tackle the following:
- identify the foreign dialogue parts of the movie,
- work out the best translation for each part and render its specific subtitle,
- synchronise each subtitle to perfectly match up with the related spoken part,
- work on NTSC and PAL versions individually for perfect synchronisation.
Sample Downloads: we have attached here sample versions of the subtitles (covering the first 20 minutes of the movie described above). These relate to both the NTSC and PAL standards and to both language versions: English and French.

We also request that you do not share the fully rendered subtitles with the wider web users (in whichever form this might be) out of appreciation for the amount of work that went into developing these and because this would kill such initiatives.
